It was my first ship and I did not want to lose face.
I had the Forenoon watch in the wireless office and we were relieved
at noon by the Afternoon watch.

Tot Time. It had been Harry Roughers all night and forenoon, I managed
to keep my breakfast down. I might be an OD but I was tough, we went to Rum issue.

Now Rum issue is held around the Rum Tub THE QUEEN GOD BLESS HER,The whole rum
issue for the ships company is mixed in the tub. Two measures of water, one measure
of 100 proof rum, then The tot is poured over the Rum Tub, given to you,
and you drink the half pint down in one go over the tub  and move on
Well I got my TOT, drank it down in one over the tub, and two nanoseconds
later it came back up with my greasy bacon etc into the Tub.
I was very popular that day

Sometime later I was detailed as Messman to the Senior Rates Mess.
One of the duties was to collect the neat Pussers Rum and take it 
to the Mess ready for Senior Rates Tot time.
I collected the full fanny of Pussers Rum from the issue and proceeded 
along the Burma way up and down the ladders (again it was rougher's)
till I got to the Senior Rates Heads.Where I fell Rum and all down the ladder.
The ships company rum issue was stopped whilst the Officer of The Watch, 
came to the Heads and proceeded to measure the spillage compared to the issue,
decided it was genuine and re-issued the Senior Rates Rum.
